Sadly this comes as no surprise to me. Forty years ago I discovered that Oxfam....I was a paid Oxfam worker then.....was a corrupt, jobs for the boys organisation prepared to brush theft under the carpet and humour the thieves......
My colleague and I resigned but refused to be silenced and made sure that what we knew....and had proof of.....was investigated and brought into the open....
When it was over I was told I could only come back to OXFAM in any position...paid or voluntary.....if I promised never to whistle blow again......x

I am a bit surprised by this if its true, children or not. MY DH worked for a large multinational and often went to countries where business moral standards differed from our own. There were clear international rules on what "hospitality" might be accepted and what "local entertainment" might be enjoyed and what might not. Failure to comply meant dismissal.

as for tight fists not giving to charity
give by gift aid - tax deductible - if youa re a rich boy -
lots munnay ! every £100 you give the charity gets tax relief and £166
uvvawise - on a lower tax rate £100 means £125

I like local charity's... I'd rather go give a homeless man £10 than give £2 month to a homeless charity for 5 months...//
Please reconsider giving cash to your local charity....if, like ours, they desperately need money. It pays for support workers who help with benefits, housing, mental health, training. It pays the salaries of cooks like me. It goes towards the necessarys for making healthy meals. It pays for cleaning supplies that aren't donated. A £10 donation is far more useful than some of the shockingly horrible things that get dragged out of lofts in the assumption that we'll take anything.
It will go to far better use than giving it directly to a homeless person.

The Deputy Chief Executive, Penny Lawrence has resigned. If the story continues to ‘have legs’, there may very well be further resignations.
Medium term, this will damage Oxfam’s reputation. It may well see donations fall. What the organisation will need to do, is carry out a thorough investigation into policies and internal procedures, and make those findings public.
Oxfam may find it takes time to put out this fire.
