Perhaps this is because it remembers its own in-house Stalinist, Richard Gott, the paper’s features editor who had been a Soviet agent and had KGB contacts going back to 1964. He pocketed plenty of money — “red gold”, as he called it — for his treason. Gott was eventually forced to resign from The Grauniad.
What’s he doing now? He boasts of being an associate fellow at the University of London. If Kim Philby were alive today, he’d probably be the university’s chancellor.//
