It isn't laughable when you consider that there are such things as ex-terrorists (most prominently of course Maajid Nawaz). It's also not laughable when you consider that there exist non-violent Muslims who are in the process of being radicalised or have a high risk of becoming violent. Any individual who can be swayed from that (as Nawaz was) is a net win, and fellow muslims have a much higher chance of achieving that.

As for "muslim boots on the ground"... well, to put it bluntly, what do you know? Obviously the army has judged that it wants to target muslims for recruitment. Who are you to say there isn't an advantage to having muslim troops on our side while operating in majority-muslim countries?

If it is PC driven, then it is pretty pathetic. If it is part of a drive to sell the Army to minorities who might think they wouldn't fit in, then I would wait to see if it is successful or not before judging it.

I thought that was the right thing to do. It shows the Army to have no bias against all serving men and hopefully encourages men and women of all faiths to Enlist. I found the respect shown to the soldier while he was praying quite moving.
