No doubt you would want the accomplice to get trauma therapy. Get real. They broke into someone's property and wanted to relieve him of goods he had probably worked hard for and you are feeling sorry for them. No sympathy whatsover and dogooders like you make me so mad. He got what he deserved.

Are the gnomes operating some sort of bonus scheme for generating 'discussion' - if so how do I register - I'll be in Kettering later today ... ?
Thank you, Baldric......

So Spath.....if that is the case and in the act of forcing the man into the kitchen the burglar fell onto the screwdriver.....still murder?
Spath....I have asked you two questions about this now......your new role must surely involve answering us too?
Spath, re your post at 12.28 with a description of what happened. Were you hiding in the kitchen cupboard? None of what you describe is mentioned in the report.

Spath, please answer my post at 12.47.

1 : If I am told there will be a burglary at my house and sit waiting with a shotgun & then shoot the burglar in the back - that is (arguably) murder.

2 : If I disturb an unexpected armed intruder and he gets stabbed in a struggle then that is almost certainly self-defence.

There are obviously shades of grey between the two situations - but I'd say this one is much much much nearer to scenario 2 than scenario 1.
Thanks, Spath....so he should have obliged the burglars........would that be considered aiding and abetting?
" sheer speculation" indeed most of this thread is speculation. In truth a dreadful day for all concerned . The truth will emerge soon enough .
I simply cannot believe that some on here are taking the side of the 'victim'.

Spath, you are speculating again. How do you know that the burglar did not instigate the attack?
Jack - 1 person is!
I haven't read all the posts, but I have no sympathy whatsoever for burglars. None. If they're killed in the process of following their chosen occupation, tough.
Agree Naomi.
He'll get done for manslaughter and get a suspended sentence for self defence. He should face a trial as he's killed someone.
With any luck he'll have Bob Massingbird as his defence counsel.....
(Relative scene starts at 7 minutes in)

On a serious note, one less vermin who'll be terrorising innocent, elderly and vulnerable people in their own homes.
Hope the accomplice gets a kicking inside too....
