Gness Versus The Priest...part Two.
35 Answers
After telling me he would visit mum in her care home the Corby priest emailed me to say he was arranging for the priest from Kettering who is already looking after Catholics in her home to visit instead.
I sent a polite email back saying thank you but don't trouble the Kettering priest.....I wanted what she would want....a visit from folk in her own parish.
I went to visit Mum today and asked the caring, nursing and admin staff about the Kettering priest....naming and describing him.
Not one person knew him.....he has never visited nor spoken to any of them.
Those of faith are looked after by a lady named B. from Desborough who comes in after a service on Sunday to give out communion.
I think the Corby priest has told me a little fib.......I may have to sit in on one of his services....can hecklers be thrown out of a church service?..... ;-)

Johnny...I have asked the Corby priest for an explanation...then I'll email the Bishop......but your idea is a good one....thank you...x
Marval.....the difference in distance is one mile.....I don't think it's too much to ask of the person who is, as far as she is concerned, her parish priest....
I'll be interested to get a reply about the non visiting Kettering priest....and just how he is looking after the Catholics.... :-)

I will, Marval...thank you...x
Interesting, Woof....I'll let the Bishop sort out that one....
It's a shame if there are other Catholics there who have been....well abandoned really, when they are of no more use...
Even when people come to the stage when they are unaware it's good and kind to continue the care they would expect...x

Yes, clearly the priest is not fulfilling the requirements of his vocation. You could write to his Bishop, I suppose - or, as has been suggested start a fuss in The Catholic Herald. I don't know too much about R.C. practices, but I'll ask a friend who does. I would think that by the time they got to you to throw you out you could get quite a lot said. :)
It's really not on i.m.o. Having thought about it, I'd email the priest back and say that no other arrangement is acceptable and leave the ball in his court for a start-off. I'd also print the email off and send it to his Bishop. Shocking treatment.

Some might, Douglas....but Mum wouldn't and would be surprised...and that's what matters here......x
I wonder if the priest is saying....Go, Gness...Tilly....well maybe not in those words..... :-)
The Bishop will get the emails, J......and care for Catholics in homes might just improve......as for chasing me around the church....it's big and I know it well.....could be fun!

when my late husband was ill, he was visited and prayed for by both denominations of Seafarers Centre Clergy who were both lovely to me after he died. neither of us were churchgoers. The RC chaplain in hospital was kindness itself to me at a very bad moment.....I suspect it has something to do with what their day to day responsibilities were....all three were in situations where most of the people they met and who needed their help were not of their faith, maybe not of any faith, and who needed practical help as well as spiritual support right then and there....maybe its easier for a parish priest to lose themselves in system and habit....or maybe they never had a vocation to people, only a vocation for the organisation.....
