//Abdulrahim Omar, 21, from Bedford, gave the boy a "number one" haircut while others sat around and laughed, Luton Crown Court heard.//
Is it just me or does anyone else find this sentence a bit OTT?

I wonder if the problem is the charge... not the sentence. Of course what he did was wrong, and stupid, and unkind, but surely a lesser charge would have sufficed.

My thoughts exactly Rowan. I just cant see how this adds up to an ABH charge.
What like, shoplifting ?

He was charged with what he did
Question Author
No, like assault Steg..
If the boy suffered harm then the charge was correct.

He could, he plead guilty
Question Author
Over 20 years ago I too received an 8 month prison sentence for ABH, believe me, I did a lot more than give someone a haircut.

But the boy rang the police because he was humiliated, not because he was hurt.
So?
Question Author
So, I think his sentence is excessive.
He won't serve 8 months, ,
It's very easy to humiliate a child. The people laughing probably made it more humiliating.
Question Author
I think we all know that anne.
The problem is with the charge. He has ended up lumped with those that do some proper ABH landing people in hospital or worse.

With some of the sentences passed recently, the lady who stabbed her boyfriend but was too clever to go tot jail springs to mind, this sentence does seem disproportionate. He is however clearly guilty of an assault.
Nailit, it was more than humiliation:-
Prosecutor Alex Radley said the boy suffered "psychological and physical harm"
// So, I think his sentence is excessive.//

Aye I gathered that from the op

And I was thinking how Ant walked from court after nearly killing a child.
Well the prosecutor would say that, they say all sorts to get a prosecution sometimes even knowing it is not the truth (as recent findings have shown). but to what degree is perhaps the question i.e. did he land him in hospital for instance?

LOL ;-)
Yep, another one Nailit. There are quite a few and those are just the ones we know about.
