//A Northern Ireland bakery found to have discriminated for refusing to make a "gay cake" will have its appeal heard by the Supreme Court later on Tuesday.
Ashers Bakery are challenging the ruling over their decision - in 2014 - not to make a cake iced with the slogan "Support Gay Marriage".
Appeal court judges upheld the original decision in 2016.
The Supreme Court will hear the case on Tuesday and Wednesday during its first-ever hearings in Northern Ireland.//

I didn’t realise this argument was still going on. Will an appeal to the Supreme Court succeed? I have my doubts.

I am a Mason and I know a few who are gay, but I can't tell you because it's a secret.
//you can't be gay AND a Mason ??? whyever not ?//

Because the masons are a miserable lot , murraymints
TTT o- // you well know who "they" - I note you choose to pick on my terminology rather than the substance. //

I do know exactly who 'they' are, and by definition, 'they' must be different from 'we', otherwise why make the distinction.

You make the distinction, I don't.
have danced many a Gay Gordon Danny !!
how olds your granny Jack ? ;0)
I am surprised, another person who would order, pay then not bother when the company reneged on the deal.

You are a caring type of guy TTT.
Again just to put the record straight - he agonised before taking this to the equality commision (I don't believe that is the same as sueing!!) But we in the office advised him not to let them get away with such blatant descrimination!
did he get his money back ?
I used "they" to refer to the plaintiffs.

Even in the midst of serious discussion there are times when I can't help smiling.

You used 'their circle' to refer to them as well.

Don't be shy - if you think that gays are a separate entity, and the language you use, and the position you take would suggest that you do, then own up to it, and don't wriggle, it's not dignified.
must be Scottish Mason speak then Jack....(which lodge are you in.. ie number... sshhhh...it's secret )
Yes, Scottish and Irish Masons are completely separate from English ones.
"You used 'their circle' to refer to them as well. " - and is that bad?
"Don't be shy - if you think that gays are a separate entity, and the language you use, and the position you take would suggest that you do, then own up to it, and don't wriggle, it's not dignified." - I don't think that at all, I used the phrase in this case to refer to those gays who go around looking for things to kick up a fuss about rather than for example using one of the 1000s of bakers who could not care less what you want on a cake. The phrase is nothing to do with them being gay per se.
While I agree that technically this is not discrimination agdindt someone for being gay, the bakery does seem to have been bloody minded about this. It’s a commercial transaction: no one was asking them actually to support gay marriage.

Do you have any evidence to back up that nonsense?
