Over my dead body, david.
People voted for Brexit.
The Politicians have to deliver Brexit.
The Government is the worst in living memory.
They are incapable of getting this right.
could labour do any better i ask you?
I don't think so emmie. I can't see what the problem is, just leave the border as it is, as it's always been.
i totally agree, leave things as they are...
//just leave the border as it is, as it's always been.//

I'm sure the government would love to. Unfortunately they can't do that while one side remains in the single market and the other doesn't.

Labour is the only party led by a true-believing Brexiteer. So all you Brexit fans should probably be flocking to Corbyn's flag...
A border is never going to happen. It would mean a fence all the way along, with a manned border post on every road, track, path stream etc. Can you see that happening? I can't!
Well, it isn't going to happen now, because of this prudent stopgap measure. I get the sense that we have Mr. Varadkar to thank for that rather than our own hapless leader.
If a hard border was to go in, it would mean a person living in Letterkenny or anywhere around Donegal having to travel down the west coast by Sligo just to get to Dublin, that's just one instance, it's ridiculous especially for workers commuting to Dublin or other border counties to work. We in the RofI didn't vote for brexit so why should our lives be turned upside down
why not just cut northern island lose, dead weight on the uk anyway
Well it wouldn’t mean a thing of the sort of course. Nonetheless I agree that the situation with regard to ‘Brexit’ and the two parts of Ireland is one which may well kibosh the former
A ‘hard border’ would not be Trump’s mythical wall. But that doesn’t mean it’s in any way acceptable
Either cut NI loose and finish the problem once and for all or have a soft border our side and show it is the EU being intransigent.

Other countries, like Switzerland, manage it so it can be done. The Irish PM is peed off becuase he know with the UK gone there will be no brass coming in, in fact he will probably have to pay in!
there's a natural border in place, it's called the North Channel - as to crossing it, not much different to showing a passport to a driving licence etc to board a ferry or plane - and automate customs such as between Sweden and Norway.
//Other countries, like Switzerland, manage it so it can be done//

Switzerland is in the single market.
I drive in and out of Switzerland quite often (in fact I did so last Saturday) without let or hindrance. If the EU can have such an arrangement with the Swiss, why can they not have it with N.I.?
They (Brussels) are being obdurate in order to secure a very soft Brexit, and the hapless Teresa is playing right into their hands.
Kromo; Not quite. The relations between Switzerland and the European Union (EU) are framed by a series of bilateral treaties whereby the Swiss Confederation has adopted various provisions of European Union law in order to participate in the Union's single market, without joining as a member state.'
//If the EU can have such an arrangement with the Swiss, why can they not have it with N.I.? //

They could. But the UK government has ruled out single market membership. Besides, the stopgap measure of extending customs union participation to NI does prevent a hard border, if I understand it correctly.
WHAT ! do you mean Brexit could be kicked into the long grass then David, OR Cancelled, or even a second referendum , hope you are right about all this .

It's the same difference as far as the operation of the border is concerned. The UK government has pretty much ruled out that option anyway.
