Now that we’ve had months of Conservatives on AB and elsewhere claiming the Labour Party is riddled with anti-Semitism, here’s a balancing claim that Toryism is the party of Islamophobia.
We might as well get some help from the remaining Abrahamic religion, so here is a quote from the Christian Bible:
“Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”
(By the way, the Telegraph has a similar article today, but it has a pay-wall. Maybe someone else can link to it.)

Both have many members and supporters, so not everyone will be singing from the same hymn sheet. There will be a very small number who are not on message, but nearly everyone is sound. It is easy to find a Conservative retweeting a racist joke, but they are in a very small minority, and not representative of the Party as a whole.
I totally agree with your opening sentence, Gromit! Indeed, I imagined I'd said as much in my opening sentence, referring to a (quote) "balancing claim"!
Neither claim is true, as you say. The point, however, is that right-wingers here and elsewhere have been getting away virtually unquestioned with THEIR claim, so I felt it was time for others to query their attitude...the Bible's word rather than mine applies.
VE, you don't appear to have got any wiser than you were when we first met in Q&P all those years ago. I would have been delighted to pass on your regards to Gribble, but I have seen no sign of her for years, mainly I suppose because I only very infrequently visit there. Is she still around? I hope so and would be pleased to know that there is still someone prepared to help her in answering ANY newspaper crossword clue she asks about!

The Tories are the nasty party though. They're supposed to hate everyone though aren't they? so it's no big deal.
The reason racism in the Labour party is a bigger story is that they'd have us believe they're the fluffy bunny party that offers nothing but tolerance, love and respect to everyone and everything - oh, except Tories of course, and now Blairites, 'Israelis', and you know, everyone else that it's 'ok' to hate.
Also, it's become an issue for Labour of late because the extremist nutters of the party, which is where the problem lies, have taken control, so their voices are being heard more.

I love the crushing one liners on AB
//When did you have the labotomy? Lab..o...tommy.//
God they make me howl
Maxwell's hammer is inappropriate - it came down on his head and the way lobotomies ( oh hey I have let out my punch line!) were done was up foo dee nose....
It is a lobotomy innit?
or is labber-tommy an intentional humourous mis-spelling, with a significance and meaning that has passed me by? ( hey clock that Biblical pharisaic reference!)
and as for Islamophobia - meaning hate rather than fear
I think we may be stuck with it.
misogyny and misandry are words for hatred of gurlz and boys ... BUT misogunia is a word in ancient greek
and a cognate such as mis-islamy-ding-dong
just doesnt have that ring
I note antisemitism and not miso-semiti-whatsit....
Have fun boys

well Baroness Warsi tells us there is far too much Islamophobia - and she should know - - she was a security minister
and I wondered what SHE had done / said about condemning the London Manchester attacks
and it turn out quite a lot
