From what I've read, most of these fraudulent claims began just days after the fire when everyone was under huge pressure and hurry due to the immediacy of the situation.

Thank goodness they are being found out one by one.

That's entirely the problem..... There are few accurate records to reflect quite who was living where at the time of the blaze.

As Mamya says, those folks completely devoid of any shame in making such claims are being weeded out one by one. Thank goodness.

No.They should have concentrated on finding similar accommodation for them and not housing them in luxury hotels whilst showering them with gifts, credit cards and Oyster cards.

As I have said in the past, had it been me I would have been told to sift through the ashes for my insurance policy and take it from there.

A large number of Councils include Insurance premiums within the rent - no one is disagreeing that things weren't handled at all well, I would imagine for most having to sort things out this was thankfully a first for them.

He may well have been traumatised by what he believed to be a real event.

Ohh that's alright then. share the costs among other insured people next year. They had no more clue as to was "residing" there illegally than they do in the whole of London, or indeed GB.

the records show the council did diddly squat in the first days
and then held emergency closed sessions to discuss..... how to vary the appalling press they were getting for doing nothing.

neither did West Ken but they didnt ask for help

when they were ASKED if they needed help ( by the man at the ministry ) they initially said no they didnt think it was anything to do with them....

( remember they had hived off housing to a separate organisation)

Has anyone pointed out the council is not able to insure tenants possessions ?
they have to do it themselves

( the principle is - that to insure something you have to be able to mitigate the loss)

and has anyone pointed out that getting insurance for possessions if you are not a house owner is vv difficult.
( when Towyn was flooded in whenever, 60% were uninsured)
