It's abhorrent. It's trivialising the lives and wellbeing of starving children and turning it into a game for rich westerners. What could possibly be worse? Why not just say we've got together with Messi and we're going to donate x amount to children who are starving.
If they did nothing you would not be able to vent your 'disgust' 'anger'vif they had done nothing and you wouldn't have been any the wiser or cared less.
Yes I totally get what you're saying, any one of thousands of companies could choose to donate to these children and don't- the difference is they don't try to use it as a marketing campaign for their own benefit. Mastercard can frank *** off.
yes you are right...its the trivialising of genuine need that I find abhorrent...dangling the prospect of a donation in front of the charities involved.....I honestly would have expected better of the footballers involved....or maybe not......
Might not be in the best of taste but companies promising to do some good if you buy their product, or whatever, is hardly new; and hasn't tended to cause a backlash before. Would folk prefer they didn't help the starving at all ?
It was an ill-conceived but well intentioned gesture by Mastercard. I'm sure they'll be itching to redeem themselves and subdue the outraged Twitterati.
