Italy is refusing to allow a boat with over 600 migrants to dock at it's ports. https://news.sky.com/story/italy-shuts-ports-to-rescue-ship-carrying-over-600-migrants-11401125. Good on Italy. I bet you ask those migrants where they're aiming for, I bet they say England!!

Clearly no one is wanting them to drown and neither is coping with a situation using humour, wrong. Some folk might benefit from considering what they find they need to make a fuss about.

Likewise no one wants economic immigrants to risk suicide in order to impose themselves on another's country that doesn't want them, nor invited them. Economic immigrants who rely on deliberately putting their life in danger ought not expect others, whom they wish to take from, being soft hearted enough to bring them in to their country, out of a need to be humane. It's a deliberate and calculated abuse of human nature. They ought be towed back to where they came and given a stern warning that they might not get the same rescue next time they try it.
Murder them?
That was to David...
How do we know that these are economic migrants? My impression was that migrants attempting to cross the mediterrenean tended to be refugees from Syria or Libya. Considering those countries are now a violent wreck incapable of supporting civilian life, how exactly can people fleeing them be termed economic migrants?
//Krom, no one is wishing death on them//

Guilbert and david small seem quite eager on it, unless I have misread their posts.

//neither is coping with a situation using humour, wrong.//

Call me a prude but I don't think it's terribly funny to make jokes that dehumanize people in serious peril.
They are coming from countries that have no war/conflict, and possibly there having already moved from another that did, in order to be safe. They're safe already at their nearest neighbouring country. Of course a move on again across a sea is for economic reasons. No one is going to be naive enough to believe otherwise; that excuse is a non-starter.
Dehumanization is your mind's interpretation.
David seemed to be giving an indication how death wouldn't work, and was suggestion contraception, although I'd think that was a wider issue. Not recalling Guil's post; I'd have to go back and look.
Ah now I recall his post. No indication of wishing death on them; just that he doesn't care one way or the other. You seem to be reading what you wish to read.
Not caring whether someone lives or dies is hardly reassuring...

Yes, O-G it is dehumanizing to compare human beings to animals like that. It is a time-honoured propaganda tactic.
I wasn't comparing them to animals, Kromo. For me there's no comparison.

I'd take a 1000 animals over 1 economic migrant.
Wow....shocking.
If you say so...
I notice that the ship Aquarius is funded by a French "charity" and has been busy "saving" refugees (hoovering up clients) and liaising with people traffickers. They now exercise their "rights" to dump them in Italy, who in turn says that Malta must open it's ports. Haha Malta. Why does the French charity not sail NW instead of NE and land them in France? Or is that the deal with the French Government? We will help and covertly fund you as long as you don't bring them here.
I really am shocked and appalled by the whole tone of this thread, come on people aren't you better than this, you are so insulated, so comfortable by sheer dumb luck that you were born in the UK/ Western Europe, to flippantly joke about other people misfortunes and some of you wishing death upon them in case they share in some of your comfort, I humbly suggest you have a word with yourselves because I'm with Krom this thread is deeply shameful and it's disgraceful.
immediate repatriation..
if illegals were immediately shipped back home then it would go somewhere towards easing the problems.. no lengthy procedures in holding centres etc..
//I'd take a 1000 animals over 1 economic migrant. //

Because they're less civilized, right? This is starting to look depressingly familiar.

I think I will bow out now. There's not a lot more for me to say here.

What a dreadful and sickening thread to wake up to......I have no words so I'll echo Kval.....and Baez........ :-(
I'm an immigrant. But my grand father fought for this country. He didn't just fight...but he was injured, life changing.
