If they cant cope with exams how will they cope with job hunting and the pressures of the work place, what do they expect, the exams to be made easier for them.

Sherrardk //he's not picky and he's not afraid of grafting.// Youngsters like your son are the future of our nation. I have also read the posts after the one I sampled, and respect him already. He is obviously a well rounded young man already and you should be rightly roud of him. They all expect to be the next big thing nowadays, having done jack. The ones who have...

Oh dear, it was easier when we were youngsters the exams were hard but we didn't have social media to distract us.

Thanks Fiction-factory.

Exactly Rowanwitch, ...Employer "tell me a bit about yourself"

Girl " well, ive got over 150,000 followers on youtube and can operate a smartphone.
Yet people still insist that snowflakes are a figment of the imagination. I would have liked to see these darlings tackle my Latin and Greek A levels in 1966. They would have known what hard really meant.
I think people are unduly harsh on youngsters - the stuff my kids have to know is far harder than anything I had to do, even the stuff they have to know for year 6 SATs is stuff that didn't use to be covered until secondary school (if at all). My daughter who is in her first year of secondary is already being measured against her expected GCSE grades. This pressure on youngsters to meet targets is immense.

The pressure of getting a job in today's market is immense, so employers only want the best.
PS - my son sat the A level biology paper today and he said it was nothing like the practice and past papers, for the first time ever he couldn't answer a question and it didn't cover what it was supposed to.
i agree with sherrard. My six year old is being nationally tested on phonics in the next week or so. SIX years old!
didnt you stress about any of your studies jack?
People have always stressed, Bednobs...no matter what they say...but I know from experience things were much easier and narrower in say, the 60s than today.....x

But he has plenty of time till the really important exams, im pretty sure hes not a "youtube star"
Webbo, my eldest son is not doing any more exams, these are his actual A levels. Oh, and he didn't come home and whinge or blame somebody else, he just said it as it is. He's upstairs now, applying for jobs.
when everyone is telling you all testing is really important, it's difficult to take that approach though webbo.
also you tube stars are real people you know, with real fears and acheivements. Just because you are on you tube dos not mean you are immune to lifes stresses (of which exams seem a huge one)
applying for jobs.

Wishing him the best of luck, sherr.

I know times are different now to when I had exams ( seems like centuries ago ). I just used to cram up the day / night before cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Thanks Tony - he just wants some cash while he raises his fitness levels and matures a bit before he joins the Army (current plan).
Hope it works out for him, sherr.

What type of job is he looking for to get a bit of dosh put by ?.

Retail (he had a Christmas job at PC World) so he has some experience - he's not picky and he's not afraid of grafting.
