Labour are pro Brexit. Corbyn has ALWAYS been anti EU.
He voted against the Maastrict and Lisbon Treatries when they were voted on in Parliament. Unlike May, who always voted for them.
I have to say I’m at something of a loss to understand what it is the marchers are after. A vote, yes; a democratic right to decide on the final deal. But what, exactly?
I’ve read this https://www.peoples-vote.uk/petition?recruiter_id=718569 and I’m none the wiser.
What is it that the vote is designed to achieve – has anyone given any thought to what the question will be, and how many possible answers are expected? are the campaigners looking for an opportunity to reject any deal? If they win that vote, then what? Walk away – but isn’t that what is being argued about?
If there was going to be a vote if would be ‘deal to leave’ or ‘stay’
That is the idea anyway.
But there won’t be a vote.
More realistic is trying to persuade the government to let the UK crash out with no deal. That is the catastrophe that must be avoided at all costs and it’s what the negotiations are trying to avoid. If you think a no deal Brexit is the ‘will of the people’ then direct your ire at the PM as well. Because she doesnt want that either.
It would really take the wind out of remains sails if we actually got a reasonably good deal wouldn’t it.
Everyone is assuming we are heading for no deal. And that of course is a possibility but with the right attitude we could get someth8ng we could all live with.
I don’t think anyone is assuming we are heading for ‘no deal’
Some might be hoping for that. The most likely outcome will be somehow it’ll all musdke through in the end. The PM will clutch a piece of paper saying ‘peace in our time’ and there’ll be a sensible phased withdrawal that will either please everyone or more likely no one. For a while
"Backbencher David Lammy was the most senior Labour figure to address the crowds, which organisers have said numbered at least 100,000, athough several pro-EU Labour MPs, including Chris Leslie, Stella Creasey and Stephen Doughty took part in the march."
It is a disgrace btw that there was no significant Labour presence.
However labour’s tactic is to keep its head down and let the government balls things up. The party may be divided but for now thst doesn’t matter as its irrelevant
