I no longer live in London full time so I won't get a vote, however tbh as Rowan says he's as good as the next person, the city is in a very negative phase, and better than the last Tory Mayor so had I been there to vote for him the first time, I might vote for him a second time. Personally I think he handled the idea of terror threats properly, he didn't panic, he didn't encourage others to panic, what did you want him to do, run around screaming that the sky is falling?
I don’t live in London so won’t get to vote on the future mayor but given a chance I would vote for someone willing to put their neck on the block and tackle youth and drug crime (obviously not the only problems London has but it’s a start). Zero tolerance.
Ex military or old school police type of person.
The mayor has a lovely big building to work in so I assume he does more than just sound bite media platitudes about terrorism and knife crime but he should spend his time where most needed.
//he didn't panic, he didn't encourage others to panic //
true, but he could hardly panic when his attitude to serious incidents is "it's the cost of living in London". I don't live in London but I travel frequently, and I'm not sure it's a terribly good advert for Mr Khan's city for tourists to be told "expect to be targeted".
"it's the cost of living in London" and "expect to be targeted". Except Khan never said those quotes. And the misqotes were about being prepared for attacks, not in reference to the Westminster attack.
What Khan actually said in was:
//Part and parcel of living in a great global city is you’ve got to be prepared for these things, you’ve got to be vigilant, you’ve got to support the police doing an incredibly hard job. We must never accept terrorists being successful, we must never accept that terrorists can destroy our life or destroy the way we lead our lives. //
That statement is absolutely correct and proper, and I doubt anyone can disagree with it.

Any body can come out with platitudes, what is he actually doing about it?

It is primarily the job of the Home Secretary to prevent Terrorism, not the Major of London.
The Mayor (and the London Assembly) are mostly involved in strategising and budget allocation. Actually doing anything about crime in the capital is the job of the Police Commisioner, Cresseda Dick.
