This is turning from the relief of finding the boys to the devastation of one of the rescuers being killed trying to transport oxygen to the boys. I can't begin to imagine how these boys must be feeling right now and their parents too, not to mention all the rescuers risking their lives and their families. How on earth are they going to get them out of there?!

On the 10pm BBC News they said they now have to do it more quickly than they intended and will start next week. I know I am stating the obvious but it is going to be unbearable waiting to see if they succeed once the first boys have started the journey out. Perhaps we won't be told until they have succeeded, or not. Unbearable for us but a thousand times worse for the families.
Everytime I see this on the news, I feel sick. I remember going caving when I was 14, and I was absolutely terrified. The thought of those young lads stuck in there makes me ill.
I feel the same rocky. Just ....... no words.
It reminds me of those Chilean miners, but these are young kids. Utterly terrifying.
a moment of error on the teachers part,,,he didn't do a risk assessment prior!
Years ago when I was a lot younger I was a certified diver. I went cave-diving twice, but nothing as extreme as these conditions. I realized that it was not an activity for me. It's a horrendous situation for both them and the rescue divers: For the boys, the feeling of claustrophobia; the lack of visibility; the strange sounds from the breathing apparatus and the clanging of tanks against the walls are some of the things they will experience during that long trip through the flooded portions of the complex. I hope, as we all do, that there is a successful ending.
Am I the only one who first saw this on the news felt a great relief that the group had been found , and just a case of getting them out ? Unfortunately not all as it appeared

How do you know this, have you a link?
Anneasquith, no you're not the only one. I was in a taxi when someone had the news on her phone that the boys had been found. We were all relieved, but then further news came that it would be hard to get them out.
Dreadful!

I feel the same, Rocky. I get palpitations just thinking about confined spaces and no daylight.

I have to keep checking the news for any developments, positive or otherwise. Human nature I guess.

Haven't followed this story that closely. We see TV pictures of chap talking to boys over a very short distance. Don't understand how he got there and why the boys can't come out the way he got in. Would be grateful for an explanation.
Scooping, the journey out will take approximately 6 hours.A long time for boys who are not used to scuba diving.
It was dry when they entered the caves.
The rescuers travel part of the way using SCUBA equipment where the tunnels are completely flooded.
Few of the boys can actually swim in a pool let alone through flooded, cave tunnels with zero visibilty and the need for underwater breathing apparatus.
Thanks Danny and Jack. Think I get it now.
Scooping. The full story is available on line, easily accessed and regular updates .
Would it be possible to make all the boys unconscious & put them in a individual sealed tube with oxygen then bring them out of the cave to be recovered in safety ? Very similar to deep space travel.
Sorry to repeat myself, but

//I know I've missed something somewhere, but how did the aid workers get food and medical supplies to the boys?//
Maybe the rescue worker who died. He died on the way back.
Oh god, yes. Of course.
