I wonder if those who want her replaced at this point have thought things through. It’s hard to see how a different prime minister at this stage would make any difference and would increase cells for a general election. What was it someone called Jeremy Corbyn? The most effective chief whip the Tories have ever had!
Those declaring no confidence will have discussed candidates beforehand; so there ought be no issue there. With remainer MPs unhappy and wanting a staunch remainer PM, and leaver ones unhappy with a remainer coming up with offers that cross basic exit red lines, May can be expected to be dropped early. It should just be a case of whether there are more Tory MPs who believe in democracy, or more who believe that the people are only there to elect MPs and the MPs should do what they want.
