Yep you read that right.

MPs are to vote on finishing work a week early, so that there is no time to hold a vote of no confidence in Theresa May.

Unless you get a staunch remainer or leaver, ie any one willing to stand up to everyone, any pm would have the same problem.
What we need in this darkest of hours is a leader from the mould of Churchill or Thatcher to steer us through this self-inflicted midden.

There must be at least one dysfunctional alcoholic/speed freak with unshakable inner belief to ignore all around them and plough ahead with a vision that will set us back fifty years.

On the other hand we can just be patient and wait for it all to fizzle out and sanity to return.

48 is the magic number of letters to the Chairman of the 1922 Committee. If they get that, then a vote of No confidence in their leader by Conservative MPs is triggered. But that can only be done in this Parliamentary session due to end next week. If they vote through an early holiday, there won’t be time to have the poll and they will have to hold it next September.
May would win it, but if she got 100ish votes against her, she would still have to go.
48 then not 40.
It is on reflection probably a wise move to try and send people home to dissolve the madness, but it’s another example of a dysfunctional party trying to manipulate events for the sake of its own survival.
It deserves to fail
Someone mentioned Rees-Mogg - if that somehow happened it would be the end of the party. Maybe some good will come out of this and we’ll the French style realignment that has looked a possibility but only a small one
//Someone mentioned Rees-Mogg - if that somehow happened it would be the end of the party.//
Why?
Because he’s more reviled than Corbyn by many Tories. I cannot really see anyone to be honest. Michael Gove perhaps.
Anyone trying it would have to have a strong personality. Gove ????

So like I said, no problem. If they feel strongly about it they'll obviously just vote against an early holiday. If they choose not to, their confidence in her can't be that low as we're led to believe.
If there is going to be a new Leader of the Con men , please please let it be Mogg.

Or even ," Wurzel Gummidge" I am sure Boris would make an excellent leader of the Con Men Party.
The Conservative party disgust me - all this "we're all right boys, jolly hockey sticks" brigade don't give a flying fart about anyone but themselves. From the names mentioned earlier I feel a donkey could do the job just as well. Are we all mushrooms? If so I want to be a chanterelle!
Yet the Brexiteers want to put them in total charge of our affairs, maggie. Go figure...........
A candidate doesn't need to be acceptable to both sides. (Trying for that was the error they made last time.) They need to be acceptable to the majority. Then one deals with the result.
"remember that not everyone sees things the way you do ;-)"

No, I accept that not all are so gifted ;-)
