We already need the equivalent of about two Earths to give an decent lifestyle to the people already in existence. If we ain't stopped increasing yet, any peak-child level is still going to damn most if the world's population to poverty, and a planet that can't cope with the rate of waste.
As for computer predictions, they depend on the priorities and weightings set in the code. I reckon one could likely get any of a large range of predictions because of that.

Even highly developed countries plateau at a remarkably increased level of population. Plus the resources consumed over time by a child born in a highly developed society will be many, many, many times greater than a child who isn't. This problem isn't going to disappear if we ignore. People have to stop over-producing babies - especially in highly developed countries - and they also need to make extreme lifestyle changes. Thankfully the younger generatiom have a much better understanding of this than their predecessors who so royally ballsed the planet up, and are likely more willing to make the necessary changes than their parents or grandparents.
