I see no savage in the link.
//After a 2015 trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Dr Bawa-Garba was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for two years.//
For once I agree with Canary.
I would like to be seen by doctors that are not under pressure to work very long hours and who are able to take time to reflect on my case rather than being rushed off to another case.....Hospital doctors are working very long hours and are expected to make snap decisions without time to think....I would not want their job.....I see nothing about a 'savage'..what an unpleasant name to call anyone....just a person who made a mistake with tragic outcome....I suspect it is a fear that all doctors have
Question Author
if that's the case why was she prosecuted?
She's not a savage and what she did wasn't done with ill intent - but I remember the case and I do think she was negligent. Jailing her would serve no purpose.
so once again, you are not privy to the full court process and are making crass conclusions based on emotion. Wake up and get real.

Hope that you never become a magistrate or God help us (if there is a God other than the Thatch in your book).
And, for the record, neither a Doctor.
she made a mistake after working a 12-hour shift? Who wouldn't?
Not neglegent at all.
She has won her appeal against being struck off. She was a scapegoat, the other Junior doctor was far more culpable. The Computer system crashing at the hospital was another factor that delayed the poor lttle boy’s results coming back soon enough for him to be treated in a timely fashion.
Why is she a savage? Yes she was negligent but how does that make her a savage?
Gromit i didnt know she had won the appeal. So she wasnt even negligent. So why is she a savage?
Barmaid,

This is a well written article on the case.

There were mistakes made, but the poor lad was let down by a collection of errors.
No, I would not be happy to be her patient.
I shall read that Gromit, thank you. It is too easy for one person to be blamed for a catalogue of errors. Particularly in a life and death situation.

I am still a little bemused as to why the lady should be termed a "savage" though.
TTT what is savage about her? Is it, by any chance, because she's not white?

Your mate, ANOTHEOLDGIT has a habit of using that word in a derogatory way too.

It's about time the Ab Editor cracked down on it.

There are two obvious reasons why some ABers would see her as a "savage". The first is her skin colour and the second is her mode of dress. She appears to be wearing a style associated with Islam.
I wouldn't call her a savage, but I wouldn't call her a competent Doctor either.
TTT have you never made a mistake?
// Master of the Rolls Sir Terence Etherton, who announced the ruling, said "no concerns" had "ever been raised about the clinical competence of Dr Bawa-Garba, other than in relation to Jack's death".
"The evidence before the tribunal was that she was in the top third of her specialist trainee cohort," he said.
He added that the tribunal was satisfied her actions in relation to the boy were "neither deliberate nor reckless", and did "not present a continuing risk to patients". //
