That's okay, here's £3,000 for offending you.

You have found yet another of your interminable reasons to despise and condescend to Islam, and the Muslim involved has been paid money because of her observance of her faith.
So, hooray for another anti-Muslim OP, and boo because she had the temerity to stand up for herself - which is something reserved for white European burka-banners.

Strangely in the circles I move about in, if I offer to shake someone's hand and they decline, I am offended. No exceptions for religious foibles, I'm offended. So if I went for a job interview and the interviewer was a Muslim I would certainly offer her or him my hand upon arrival. My interview may well be terminated as a result. Where do I claim my £3k?

If I offer to shake someone's hand and they decline by placing their hand on their heart and saying 'I'm so sorry, I don't mean to offend you but I do not shake anyone's hand because I am a Muslim however I welcome you with this gesture instead' frankly I don't get offended because I'm not a right wing, whinging, little snowflake that looks for offence where there is none. It's dead simple to live a non offended life.

Absolutely.
My wife has worked in Abu Dhabi for extended periods, and one of the first things she was told was that it is not appropriate for a woman to shake hands with a man she does not know - it's a simple acknowledgement of a different faith - nothing for anyone to be offended over.
I think the offence was offered to the lady in question by a chauvinistic bigot who was rightly sanctioned for his rude and illegal behaviour.

I used to work in a shop near a Synagogue and many of the Jewish women would not shake a man's hand or even put money or take change directly. The money was placed on the counter and it was never a problem.
This Muslim lady wasn't compensated because she was offended but because she didn't get a fair interview.

I don’t get offended – and I’m not a whinging little snowflake either. However, as an employer, I want people who are not going to create waves – and I wouldn’t trust someone like this woman not to do that.
