Nothing can be done until we leave the EU.
Nothing can be done about those coming from the EU until we leave the EU, but we can limit the numbers coming from outside. I think we should be more selective.

Mrs May promised to reduce immigration from the hundreds of thousands, to the tens of thousands.
Which is why you have been voting Tory.

>>>control of our own boarders

I think you mean borders.

Boarders is a totally different thing:

1) a person who receives regular meals when staying somewhere, in return for payment or services.

2) a person who forces their way on to a ship in an attack.
Spath, we have freedom of movement within the EU. Lots of British people work in Europe – and lots of Europeans work in this country.
Probably Jordy. That would be par for the course.
s[ath: "Why can nothing be done? Surely we are in control of our own boarders" - yes we are in control of those lodging here.

Spath, borders, relaxed or otherwise, have nothing to do with Europeans coming here to work or us going to Europe to work. We all have freedom of movement and you're free to apply for jobs in Europe. I think Brits are limited, though, by their general inability to speak foreign languages. It's easier for Europeans coming here because so many of them speak English.

What are you suggesting that we do then Gromit, vote Labour?

What with their track record on immigration, Britain would sink into the ocean.

Spath, No, due to the free movement policy.
Gromit, //Mrs May promised to reduce immigration from the hundreds of thousands, to the tens of thousands.

That's not why I vote Tory. Mrs May is a newcomer. Tony Blair taught me to vote Tory.
spath, what danny said.
the population is currently 64m, and is expected to grow to 72m in 15 years, and to 81m by 2060. is this sustainable in terms of pressure on resources and quality of life? nobody knows. all that can be said is that there's an increasing number of aged population to support and because the UK social service is one huge ponzie, it requires increasing numbers of new entrants to support it. if population numbers were reduced (by whatever means), it will result in budget cuts which will make Northamptonshire's difficulties look like a temporary hiccup, or tax rises so big that even Jeremy Corbyn hasn't thought of them yet.

against that, where is the growing population going to live - is it environmentally acceptable to devote ever more green land to housing? there needs to be a debate, immigration may well be part of that. more people, more food, more houses, for ever? nope, unsustainable.
Some proponents of Brexit actually want more immigration from other parts of the world. We should not be discriminating against people from Africa and Asia they maintain.
I can’t see Brexit making a lot of difference other than people will be less keen to come to a country with a less strong economy.
If the economy picks up more migrants will come. That’s the reality
