To be smeared in such a way by anonymous complaints for which the onus is now on him to prove his innocence, and even if he can -his word against theirs - a cloud always hangs forever, it must be an awful nightmare and can today, happen to anyone.
We do not know how long the accusations have been investigated for or when the complaints were first made //which arose from an internal Scottish Government inquiry//
Also, perhaps the 'victims' have only just felt they are able to talk about it.

Mr Salmond is said to be suing the Scottish government because he believes that he has been prevented from answering the accusations because of defects in the procedures.
It's an irony that a man who was once head of the government, now potentially finds himself in court against it.
I would suggest, to the same end as last time, to behave like a bottom-feeding tabloid, keen on dragging its international reputation through the sewer in order to titillate its viewing public, instead of what it is supposed to be - a publicly funded news organisation with an international reputation for honesty and fairness.
