Yes these successful students deserve their congratulations, but is all the TV and other media coverage of scenes of jubilation amongst the successful students necessary?
What about those who have not been so successful, how must they feel? Must be bad enough opening the envelope that they have waited in anticipation for weeks, but then to see that they have failed?

Note to mention an undercurrent of jealousy because they weren't similarly feted. And as for the faux sympathy for the less fortunate, such hypocrisy from those who usually freely abuse the supporters of such folk as loony lefties - it beggars belief.

No jealousy on my part, Canary. In fact, I could think of little worse than being on the telly revealing my exam results to the world. These are private matters which should not be bandied about as cheap news items on the TV.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the results are lauded to show what a wonderful job the State education system is doing with our young people. In fact it should be reporting what an utter mess it is.

I took GCSE's when they were first introduced, when the teachers were constantly striking and away training as to what was expected for the the new 'GCSE' regime, they still didn't seem to have a clue... nothing changes in government circles.
Technically I passed nine, but in reality passed only Maths, English, Physics and Biology.
Sorry for side stepping as for the coverage its the world that we live in now.

"Yeah, the annual exam results thread where all the old farts condemn the young people enjoying life. Brilliant. What a time to be alive."
Nobody on here (in this thread at least) is condemning "young people enjoying life". The thread is about the ridiculous level of coverage the exam results receive.
