We watch the excellent Jeff Taylor's videos most evenings (he usually makes one a day) last night's was a particularly a good one, outlining the current state of the EU and its aspirations;
Firstly Brexit will impact the EU if only because they loose a country which is well up in the stakes as a global player. Granted it still has France and Germany but its still a loss.
Secondly being the second largest contributor is going to impact other countries. The effect of that remains to be seen. If the Germans pick up the tab then probably little impact to any other country.
Thirdly Trade. We are a net importer from the EU. This trade is not evenly spread around the EU so it is quite possible some countries feel the impact more than others. However, except for th eshort term I doubt there will be much of a problem. Business trades regardless of Governments meddling.
Lastly there is the possibility that Brexit may drive oter countries to want to do the same. Clearly the EU is afraid of this and that is why they want to punish us (words of the EU not me).
Of course none of these may come to fruition and everything continues as normal.
the eussr is like most religions, its based on lies and fear....their apsirations are nothing more or less than an empire/super state etc call it what you like but the end games is the same...
"eu project" a concept by and for megalomaniacs who want power and a name in the histroy books.
To be honest the EU has little choice but to pus for the United States of Germany, sorry Europe. It is the only way it will work. Having separate Nations with differing economies, currencies, laws, taz, languages will never work in the long term.
Brexit is not a problem for the UK. It is an opportunity to join the 160-odd other "normal" countries in the world who do not have their affairs governed by unelected foreign civil servants. What is a problem is the way UK politicians are trying to treat it as a damage limitation exercise instead of fully exploiting the opportunities it presents.
I love Europe and all the individual countries within it, but hate the aims of the EU. We joined a 'common market'- that's all, and that is what it should revert to.
I don't agree with Ymfb at 12:22 that transforming itself into a united states of Europe is its only choice. We can all work well together as a group of friendly, autonomous trading nations.
Cut out the cr* p and cut out the Brussels hubris.
