An uncomfortable truth for some but it is undeniably the truth.

/// Cheering his name like a hero and guidance ///
It may come as a complete surprise to you and some others, but Tommy Robinson is a hero to a vast number of the population of the UK. //
I think a 'vast number' is seriously stretching the limits of 'Tommy Robinson's influence, but that aside, as I have pointed out, it is not whether the soldiers support him and his views or not, it is that, as members of the military, they could be seen as showing that the military as a whole endorses 'Tommy Robinson' and the MOD will not find that satisfactory, and will act accordingly.

AuntLydia - // I apologise in elevating Tommy Robinson to that of MP, probably wishful thinking and the need to get 'pen to paper' on the ridiculous situation where a few Lads can't have a laugh with someone without being vilified by some Islamic Advisor. Makes my blood boil. //
I suggest that your ire is preventing you from taking a dispassionate view of what has taken place here.
This is not // … a few Lads can't have a laugh with someone without being vilified by some Islamic Advisor. //
It's soldiers in the pay of the MOD appearing to offer support for a right-wing activist and publicity seeker.
Had 'Tommy Robinson' formally requested an opportunity to be filmed chatting with soliders in this manner, he would more than likely have been refused, because the MOD cannot be seen to be aligning itself with the views of any individual, regardless of what those views may be.
That is the issue here, and that is why the MOD are not happy.
It doesn't matter if their opinion was offered by Coco The Clown, the situation remains the same.
