What is a far right activist against a far left activist. Imagine Corbyn turning up, I doubt the soldiers would want to be seen with him. //
The problem is, it is not a 'non-event' - it is a potential subject for 'Tommy Robinson's inexhaustible need for the oxygen of publicity at the expense of a government department - the MOD, and they won't sit still for it.

AuntLydia - // Andy they were getting a selfie! Probably half of them didn't even know who he was! //
Unfortunately, the MOD will not see that as an excuse for their behaviour.
Whomever the officer in charge was, he / she should know better than to allow the soldiers in her charge to be filmed in this manner.
The large number of soldiers cheering and so on rather knocks a large hole in your defence that they don't know who 'Tommy Robinson' is. Would you cheer for a complete stranger in a car park?

ummmm
My son works for a Government department. You are not allowed to post political opinions on social media.
Having a photo taken with TR is like stating an opinion.
Have they posted anything on social media, ummmm?
If their opinion is one of having a dislike of predominantly Muslim/Pakistani rape/trafficking gangs then that's not a bad opinion to have IMO.

AOG - // The armed forces along with the security forces certainly need a Islamic Advisor, but that person should not be a follower of Islam. //
/// Why not? ///
Think about it, During WW2 did we need the services of a Nazi Advisor to the Armed Forces, if we did he certainly wouldn't have been a follower of Nazism.
/// The Ministry has to be very careful about its public perception, and cannot be seen to apparently endorse the views of an individual without proper authority - which risks bringing the military into disrepute. ///
Where has the Ministry of Defence endorsed the views of Tommy Robinson?

AuntLydia - // Andy I said probably half of them would not know who he was. Please read carefully before commenting as it can cause confusion and change the meaning. If your mates were cheering someone in a carpark ( try and pretend you are 17) would you stand there going 'who the F is he?' or would you join in? //
As I have already pointed out, the officer in charge should have prevented this from happening, not because it is 'Tommy Robinson' but because the MOD don't allow its soldiers to monkey about in car parks for the amusement of strangers filming them - for reasons I have explained at length.
