\\When police searched his room, they found a sword, knives, four cheap mobile phones, wraps of heroin and crack cocaine and £480 in cash. There was also a Silwood Nation t-shirt.//
\\Drill music often features rappers talking about violence and can be used to fuel rivalries between gangs, leading critics to link it to crime.//
\\Olaloko's family described him as a quiet, studious boy. He auditioned for the X Factor talent show in 2016 but failed to make the TV auditions.
Instead, he focused on drill music, rapping about drugs, money, violence and sex in his videos.//
All I read through the report was, drugs, knives, sex and violence.

When any 'new' music comes along, the Establishment remains frightened of anything it doesn't understand.
Especially something aimed at 'young people', which not only does it not understand, but it underlines the fact that, for the Establishment, youth is gone, never to return, so that reaction shares a healthy shot of bitter jealousy.
I understood that with my parents' generation, I did hope that mine would be more enlightened - sadly not it seems.
Music does not 'promote' anything - it reflects the world around it.
If you want to analyse the promotion of violence, check out a few 'Tommy Robinson' threads!

Perhaps you are not old enough to remember the early days of Rock and Roll, when the Teddy Boys ripped out cinema seats and threw them around, during the showings of the film 'Rock Around The Clock'.
Yes the 'Establishment' was pretty frightened then and quite rightly so.

Pathetic!!! nothing to say about Black violence then? Now there's a surprise.

dam savages should not see the light of day again. In my opinion Drug dealing scum should be executed like they do in Singapore etc. To answer the question though, yes drill "music" does promote violence. Just another racket as far as I am concerned. Add it to the long list of total tish that some inexplicably listen to (endure?)

I have been to see several productions of plays that included appalling violence, eyes put out, poisoning, murder, betrayal, blackmail, torture, execution …
But because they were written by William Shakespeare, no-one suggested that any of these things were being 'promoted' - probably because art doesn't 'promote', it reflects, as I have already pointed out.
