He's not just a drunk, we can all be that, the difference is that when he's drunk he racially assaulted two people so the court took steps to ensure that drinking too much publicly wasn't easy for him. Good call.

Yes it sounds bad, but he happened to push a person and when another intervened 'there was a suggestion of a punch but nothing landing'.

Yes he happened to call the two rather nasty names, but hey ho such things go on all the time and never get in the papers or even get the perpetrator banned from hundreds of pubs for a year.

On the British Channel Island of Alderney there is a notice board on the outside wall of the Masonic Hall with the latest list of those Islanders who have surrendered themselves to the Jurats to ask to be officially banned from service of liquor from all licensed premises.
Alderney is not known as '2000 alcoholics clinging to a rock' for nothing. :-)

This was no ordinary drunk/dis which are two a penny in the Golden Mile after extended liquid lunches. The two key words here are Aggravated and Racist. Very dim view taken these days.
One can't help but muse if Mr Tolley is not unknown to the magistrate when he is off his trolley.

This sentence was hardly pragmatic, as all he had to do was to shave off his beard and/or mustache and bingo, he would be able to quash the sentence overnight.

I know a few people, friends some of them, who should never drink.
This seems pretty harsh to me. Sort of incident that would be laughed off the next day if it happened in the pub.

Couldn't get this one out of the pub. I accompanied her on this tour.
It was the annual London Garden competition. She ended it viewing the police horse stables in the City and then popped into the pub next door.
