what an appalling thing to do to little children.
An American acquaintance of mine said that nothing over there is accepted unless it comes in a sweet manufacturer's sealed packaging.

There've been too many incidents of sickos putting stuff into homemade cookies etc.

Not according to Gness.
Gness actually said that she never experienced that during her time in Canada.
I can understand caution when there are people out there with evil intentions.
People can only talk from personal experience. I've never heard from anyone first hand about evils being in candy. I did see last year needles being in some UK candy, but that all went quiet didn't it? Half of it is attention seeking / warning people of potential dangers.

Yes and implied that my sister made it up. I would suggest my sister spent a lot longer iin Canada then Gness probably did. Mid 60s to death Dec 2017. She taught High school there all her working life.
Perhaps York County was less safe than Calgary?
Could well be but the provinces are all in Canada at the end of the day be it Ontario or Calgary
