Just read in the paper that the police have raided the home of two of the men (father and son) arrested in connection with the bonfire burning of the Grenfell Tower effigy.
Why?
The men for the most part went voluntarily to the police station and one can but assume at this stage have admitted to doing it. So what are the police looking for? The evidence is a pile of ashes in the garden. Are they looking for nursery style scissors and sticky tape?
What they did was in very poor taste and crass beyond belief and people are rightly outraged but I do think this is overkill.
Spath - // AH i heard something about two of them being arrested late last night? I shall try to find the source, unless someone has it to hand? //
You may be right, I am not bang up to date on the news on this nonsense.
As I have said, it is unlikely that they will be charged - I don't believe the law caters to rank stupidity, but they will certainly have paid, and will continue to pay, a debt to society by being named and shamed for their pointless behaviour.
Danny, the article i provided at 8:09 provides answers from actual victims to your question at 8:13
"One Grenfell survivor told us, “It was very upsetting seeing the model going up in flames online. But not as upsetting as it was on the night and definitely not as upsetting as it is that I’m still homeless almost 18 months later and the people who clad my flat are still living in their homes. That’s probably more upsetting.”"
Have no idea what it is about Naomi. I hadn't even contributed to the thread. Then pp plucks something that I did say out of a much longer post, and totally different thread about something else, in an attempt to "explain" it. Of course v e has gone to ground now. I must be living in his head rent free. :))
Togo, I often get the impression that I'm living in some people's heads rent-free too. I've decided to put it down to popularity. Once met, never forgotten. ;o)
yup you heard it first from me - see above

Effigies and Effix - to the editor of the Times
In Lewes, police stood by whilst effigies of living politicans were burnt. In London the Metropolitan Police arrested some idiots for burning a model of Grenfell Tower. We seem to have lost our ability to distinguish legality and good taste – from James Hall Isle of Lewis
