Have just found out that the former news reader Richard Baker has died.

I always thought he read the news very well.

he was 93 so got a good innings. RIP Richard
More than just a newsreader, seemed like a friend talking to you in the evening. Very interesting life.
A fine newsreader, RIP Richard.
Mary, Mungo and Midge. One of my children's favourites.
Yes, he had a reassuring way with him. I only wrote his name down a few days ago as an answer in a quiz referring to the narrator of TV series Mary, Mungo and Midge. It made me smile.

Very sad. I sort of grew up with him, via the News.

Rest easy Mr Baker. I well remember you and boozy Reginald pairing the news for many years. A job well done.
Wasn't Mr Baker a BBC man and Reggie ITV?
Richard Baker was certainly a very good news presenter as were the others of that era.They weren't like Huw Edwards who always looks like his favourite dog has just been run over.
