if she goes, who would take her place at this late stage, and if the deal doesn't get through Parliament what happens next.

As pretty and amusing as it is, your allegory is incongruous, Karl. Most of the people who voted to leave the “bowls club” have no wish to retain any of its benefits or use any of its facilities. The reason the current mess has arisen is because our illustrious leaders who have been “negotiating” our departure have viewed the exercise as one of damage...

jim// Wake up to what, Khandro? I already told AB that I thought this was a rotten deal, by both the standards of Leavers and Remainers.//

Good, I'm glad you're on board, and even businessmen are unhappy too;
'At the CBI conference today, Theresa May couldn’t persuade one business leader of the merits of her deal: Roger Kendrick said to her that Britain has ‘huge opportunities’ to deal with ‘a rapidly growing market outside the EU’ – but ‘those opportunities will be lost if you sign that agreement and you lock us into the EU regulatory framework’.
Bet that when asked how the meeting went she will say that they had a full and productive meeting.
There is only one way to go, and if I make quote one of my heroes;

“Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, we're afraid!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
"We can't, We will fall!" they responded.
"Come to the edge," he said.
And so they came.
And he pushed them.
And they flew.”

Well done Spain.

Mind you didn’t I read somewhere they just need a majority and not 100% agreement ?
Oh and of course Germany and France are saying it’s a great Brexit. The French minister even said it was great for the French economy.

Yyyyaaayyy lets have a Brexit that’s good for every other country other than the UK. NOT
Germany and France will like it because with a complete break they would have to pay more.

we should break away with no deal, only sensible option at this stage.
//when do the MP's get to vote, does anyone know.//

The vote is currently scheduled for December 11th.
France does not like all of the plan.They want access to our fishing waters, which May will likely agree to.
Spsin is saying that they are still confused about Gibraltar being British and won't agree until it's made clearer to them. So the daft plan looks likely to fail anyway. Any plan will. So no point in doing any more discussion until we drop out on the due date. Sorted.

so Spain are involved now are they, that will make interesting news. Never thought of Gibraltar and what they want to do.
Question Author
its been an interesting thread, so far so good, no real fallouts...
Gibraltar was, I think, the first region whose official votes in the 2016 referendum were reported; it was something stupid like 90% wanting to remain (maybe even more).

Not that our future should be dictated solely by those living in Gibraltar, but on the other hand any decision that hurts people living there should be given more careful thought.
Jim, I;m afraid that May is beyond caring about anything other than her obsession with the Chequers fiasco.
Question Author
why was someone zapped? can't see reason at all.
Someone was zapped? But anyway, we're not supposed to talk about it, you know the rules emmie!

I'm not quite sure what Chequers has to do with Gibraltar -- still, the fact that it's yet another potential spanner in the works shows just how complicated implementing Brexit will be.

The Chequers plan is the agreement.
Is it? I was under the impression that the withdrawal deal was different, in many ways, from what May had set out at Chequers -- although on this I could be wrong. Doesn't especially matter, in one sense, as they were both rotten.
