Do we agree with this 'experiment' of leaving tribes to their own devices.

AOG - I think it must take a particularly sour-type of mind to wish illness and possible annihilation on a group of harmless (if left alone) islanders just because of your views and opinions about what you believe has happened in this country.
Geezer - 'People' (armed, or not) aren't supposed to make footfall on these islands in any way shape or form. And there is no good reason for them to do so, either.

Maybe their history forms part of their distrust of intruders.
//In January 1880 an armed British expedition to the island, led by 20-year-old Maurice Vidal Portman, the local colonial administrator, arrived to conduct a survey of the island, and to take a prisoner, in accordance with British policy regarding unwelcoming tribes at the time, which was to kidnap a member of the tribe, treat them well and give them gifts, and release them back to the tribe, hoping to demonstrate friendliness. In 1879 Portman's expedition of the island is believed to be the first by outsiders. While the Sentinelese tended to disappear into the jungle whenever outsiders were spotted approaching, Portman's expedition found an elderly couple and four children after several days. They were taken prisoner and brought to Port Blair by force to try and befriend them. The adults died, possibly from contracting diseases to which they did not have immunity. The four children were given gifts, and released on the island where they disappeared into the jungle. The British did not subsequently try to contact the Sentinelese and instead focused on other tribes.//
I'm glad the fishermen who took this well meaning meddler to his death have been arrested.

///In November 2018, John Allen Chau, an American, paid local fishermen to transport him to the island by boat on several occasions. Reportedly, his goal was to convert the Islanders from their native religious beliefs, to Christianity. On his final visit, the Islanders shot at Chau with arrows and he died from his wounds. As Chau broke numerous laws in his attempts to make contact with the Islanders and India considers the tribe to be a sovereign nation, it is unlikely that the courts will express any interest in prosecuting the Islanders, who currently number between 50 and 150 people. The fishermen who ferried Chau to the island have been arrested and may face charges, including homicide.

Why would any so called cultured and civilised people want to invade their Territory and take them out with modern weaponry.
They pose no threat to the New World and can completely live without the modern trappings including medicine. They are self sufficient and not scrounging illegal chancers. They just wish to preserve the integrity and lifestyle of their natural habitat and obviously wish no outside interference.

Not half as much as a person who classes it "Good news to my mind" to hear that a unprotected person as been savagely murdered by a group of uncivilised savages.
Now that is more than sour minded, it is sick.

I think most sensible contributors to this thread (and especially those without an axe to grind) would see that my comment of 'Good news to my mind' referred to "and the islanders remain safe and unmolested." But having been here with you before I quite understand that you'll continue to use your misunderstanding of that comment as something with which to bludgeon me and anything else I say.

Apg, no, not at all. The “dhingies” are well aware they’re trying to seek a better place and what thT place is like, this is unknown brute invasion. Anyhow, our country, our laws no???? Their tribe / island, their riles. Seems capital punishment is the crime on their land. I know where i won’t be going.
