The Wetherspoons App is excellent. I downloaded it specifically for use at Gatwick in October when me and a bunch of mates went away. The Wetherspoons at Gatwick is always packed, and there's always those annoying people that take up the time of bar staff by ordering coffee, even though there's load of places to get a coffee in Gatwick.
I was ordering drinks and they were brought to us within 5 minutes - 10 minutes at the most.

// I don't like the fact that one's movements are being recorded 24/7//
yeah but no but Kh
My brother in law was in Luxor when his neighbour accused him of criminal damage in Knutsford.
Yes the police finally recognise the neighbour is a stupid old cuss....
and I was in Lundy when Vicky Pollard accused me of being in her garden at midnight ....Vicky does not live in Lundy .....Her grouses and whinges are not muted but are treated with more doubt than previously

I use cash at the burger van, at the launderette, in the barbers and at car boot sales. I can't think of anywhere else. If I see 'cash only' on the door of a shop I generally go somewhere else, even if I've got plenty of cash on me, because I don't want to give my trade to dinosaurs.
As is mentioned in Dave's link, a pub here in Suffolk claimed to be the first in the UK to go cashless a few months ago but a bar in Granary Square in London was cashless when I went there several years ago. (It was more of a 'restaurant where you can order just drinks if you want', rather than a pub though).
You can't use cash on London buses and if you fly into Charleroi Airport in Belgium without carry a debit or credit card you won't be able to buy any tickets for your onward bus or train travel at all.
Many taxi drivers, and even some Big Issue sellers, now prefer to take plastic.
Cash is, thankfully, all but dead.

The only time I use a card is if using the 'Spoons app which, as others have mentioned, is excellent.
I wont use cashless and I certainly wont use paypal over an unsecure wifi or phone signal.
In addition the reason I take cash is so that I know how much I will spend. In the late 80's early 90's, being one of Fatchers Yoof I had an Amex Gold card and, much to the annoyance of 'er indoors, used to put it beind the bar in Champaigne bars. Too many large bills and I now have more sense so cash for me if going out to get bladdered.

You do realise that not all busineses can afford to use cards. We had a shop years ago the Banks clobber small businesses in charges for some it simply wont be economical. But you sit there basking in your selfrightouesness if it makes you feel good.
