I know it was yesterday, but I was busy then, but having worked in cotton mills for a number of years, you become something of a lip reader. I thought that Corbyn clearly said "Stubborn woman".

// What does it matter if he did say "stupid woman"? //

In my opinion it doesn't really. That's why he should have just admitted it and moved on. Poor judgement and dishonesty. Stupid man.
It was definitely 'stupid woman' You don't need to see the end of the word. There is definitely a difference between watching someone's lips begin with 'Pe' as in people and 'Wu'as in woman. When you are hard of hearing lipreading is essential. He is a liar and has shown his true colours.
In a place where they refer to each other as 'honourable' or 'right honourable', it's wrong to then call someone a 'stupid woman'.
I can remember the time when they used to be able to shout 'fascist' at each other. Those were the days.
I know a deaf person who lip reads, she thinks it is pretty clear he did say it. But does it really matter if he did, it was after all muttered to himself.
ymb, it must have been loud enough for someone to hear.
the lip readers in my family are split
between
stupid woman
and stupid people

I think it is people because the lips /*/ motion is repeated and so it can only be /people/

others say there is an obvious marilyn monroe shape /w/

only one person knows - gottle ov geer! gottle of geer!
If said off the bat, no effort required the W in woman wouldn't be that puckered or emphasised, and would create a O shape in the mouth. it certainly wouldn't occur twice.

My opinion is Jeremy was telling the truth. He's half sharp, he'd know what ever he said, how ever quiet would have been recorded.
Spath, I don't know if you are an expert at lip reading but three people who are say that it could only be "stupid woman".
The Mail, normally the first to rant at 'PC gone mad', has suddenly decided it's sexist to mutter 'stupid woman'when Corbyn thinks a person who is a woman is saying something stupid. The 'outrage seems confused. As Dannyk13 says, it is against etiquette to call a member of the house 'stupid'- but surely only when overtly for all to hear. A Tory MP started conflating the event with sexism, which implies Corbyn should have muttered 'stupid person', or 'stupid human'-really?.
Still, way to distract from the Brexit choices before us, ranging from quite bad to economically disastrous
In future, all member will have to use hands to cover their mouth, rather like modern footballers these days.
Who are these experts
Will we ever know?
Will it always be a mystery
What do you say?

Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"
Three people who are hard of hearing and have to lip-read in their daily lives. They were brought in by the Speaker to view the video.
I heard the experts "had lent weight to that view but had not been conclusive.!" The mics also weren't able to pick up the mumblings

We would be expected to take, the word of any right honourable or honourable member.
else what's the point?
"Tory MP Desmond Swayne said criticising MPs for "what they might say under their breath" was moving "into the realm of thought crime"."

Seems he agrees with what ever was said or implied.. Also,,,

"Corbyn had been "seated at the time and not addressing the House" so his words had not been "on the record"."
It's not sexist though is it? Just bad mannered and against protocol.

If she'd called him a stupid man, no-one would have accused her of being sexist. There's no implication there that all women are stupid, just Mrs May in particular.
Perhaps he should have said "Stupid Lady" ...
Oh wow, thanks AB for correcting my language!

Bee eye NT.
I wonder if there would be all this fuss if T May had muttered to herself "Stupid man."
