As title. A man and a woman have were arrested yesterday. Apart from a full jail term, not a 12 month suspended sentence. Should this pair have a lifetime ban from flying on all airlines. Your thoughts.

They have not been tried or found guilty yet !
IF it’s them, they should have their Facebook page made public, so everyone who has lost out on trips / holidays etc let them know how it has ruined their festivities.
The modern day equivalent of being put in the stocks.
Ive always believed that no one should be identified until/unless they have been convicted in a court of law. I also believe that no one should be obliged to provide DNA, for the same reason(s).
I am very interested in why they did it.

After the first hour of messing around with the new toy they must have I realised they had shut down The airport so..... why?

They will probably get a light sentence that means nothing much.
if it is them they should be jailed for 100 years a piece for the amount of misery they have caused.
Shame they can only get 5 years. If it is the cyclist, he's a bit of an idiot to be wearing a high-viz jacket!
Wonder if they’re owt to do with runway protesters / climate change activists. Or maybe just council estate fikkies.
tell you what I'll settle for 1 day for each of the 140000 people they inconvenienced.
If convicted they will get a custodial sentence of up to 5 years.
I wonder how they caught them.
^A motorist spotted a cyclist packing up a couple of drones
What they should get, if found guilty, or shouldn't get are two different things.
It all depends on the sentencing guidelines for such an offence.
Perhaps NJ or Chris Buenchico could advise.
I doubt whoever did it will receive an adequate sentence from our liberal justice system.

Perhaps name and shame is the way forward on this one. They will spend the next few years looking over their shoulder waiting for someone to take the law into their own hands.
It's 5 years and I doubt they would get less than the maximum. Accidently flying a drone in a restricted area is one thing, doing it deliberately for maximum effect is quite another.
surely that kind of disruption and their motives could be classified as sedition even treason?
You would think so TTT.

Mind you the penalty for treason was reduced by Bliar, probably because he was afraid of being on the wrong side of it.
Make them sell everything they own to help reimburse some of those that lost lots of money. Then jail them.
Why does it seem that everyone on here seems to think they are guilty? There hasn't been a trial yet - apart from on here of course.
maggie, I started by saying "if it's them..." - do keep up.
Not sure .. but is the first time such a high profile crime has ever had such an effect on so many people ?
Really speaking, should a drone have entered the engine of a plane whilst landing or taking off, prior to the airport stopping all flights, we could have seen lives lost through this willful neglect.
The sentence really has to reflect the severity of the crime. It also has to make everyone aware who intends launching a drone with the intent of causing chaos in the future, to be aware that a proper custodial sentence is automaticaly imposed, not community service !
We really need to make an example on this occasion when sentencing is handed out !
