Although I agree it was more a case of over the top school yard rhetoric Elon Musk should have just left it at his original apology. But he didn’t he carried on.

And to say it shouldn’t be taken seriously because it all happened on social media is just childish.

When ‘public figures’ or those with the means to influularge amounts of people use social media to further their own agendas they can’t or at least shouldn’t be able to then say what they should be ignored because it’s on social media.

You either embrace it good or bad or shun it completely.

Vernon didn't exactly help himself though; the mini-sub was never going to work, so he should have patiently pointed out to Mr Musk why, instead of just accusing him of grandstanding.

He was hacked off that Vernon Unsworth didn't prostrate himself at his feet in gratitude enough for Musk's planet sized ego when he offered the sub, so he used the nuclear bomb of accusations intended to harm as much as possible. I don't see how any other interpretation can be put on it. Expensive lawyers or not Musk will have to settle out of court.
