//A young Saudi woman says she is stranded at Bangkok's main airport after fleeing her family and having her passport seized by a Saudi official.

Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun says she was on a trip to Kuwait with her family when she fled on a flight two days ago.

She was trying to head to Australia via a connecting flight in Bangkok.

She told the BBC that she had renounced Islam, and feared she would be forcibly returned to Saudi Arabia and killed by her family.

Thai police Maj Gen Surachate Hakparn told the BBC that Ms Mohammed al-Qunun was escaping a marriage. Because she did not have a visa to enter Thailand, he said police had denied her entry and were in the process of repatriating her through the same airline she had taken, Kuwait Airlines.

Gen Surachate said he was unaware of any passport seizure.//

She says her passport was seized by a Saudi diplomat on arrival in Bangkok, but the Bangkok authorities weren't aware she had no passport - only that she had no visa which is why she was denied entry. Very odd.

I'll leave you to your ramblings Spathy, but again you seem not to be able to make a simple leap in logic of 'SA' in this instance standing for 'Saudia Arabia' because that's what we were discussing rather than 'South Africa' which doesn't even figure slightly in this, I'll use KSA next time to soothe your fevered mind :/
the only ramblings are your petty snipes. Such as the three in one comment lol.

I've said my peace. Anyone who wishes to descend into a petty squabble can do so solo.
Once again Spath refuses to answer a direct question, the passport does infact belongs to the issuing government and they can withdraw it at anytime from any individual
What's the direct question, RR?
You have been asked several times what travels you have undertaken
People talking about passports do so from their knowledge of the UK passport. (which has much to do with the queen)

"Saudi citizens must not misuse or allow others to misuse their passport. They should also take proper care for the safekeeping of their passports. Violators will be punished according to established law."

The 'official' who took her passport should be punished.

RockRose, one, that's moot to the thread, Two, i've actuallty answerd "More than you could imagine, especially via airport."

In all honesty, i could not give you a number, because it's higher than i care to remember.

I went via airports last year 6 times. there and back. I went abroad 3 times = 6 airport visits.

That was solely last year.

However, all moot and redundant to anything meaningful. Next time i'll send u a postcard.
He was a Saudi official Spath and likely entitled to have it technically, Why are you struggling with this?

If only they wrote news articles based on imagination

They could do an article on your gardening career.
"Why are you struggling with this?"

I'm struggling with the fact that you've guessed that, and you're assuming it's fact. It is not.
"i imagine" and "likely" aren't no good when we're discussing technicalities.
Mature, talbot. Did you not want to throw a few insults in with that statement?
Okay then, in Spath world how did the Saudi official come to have physical possession of her passport? Because that has not been addressed anywhere at all. I am basing my 'assumption' on the only logical thing to have happened, and you are 'assuming' that did not happen. What do YOU think happened Spath?

spath, //I'd tell them to get me a person from Riyahd's British Embassy //

Aren't you fortunate to be able to appeal to the British Embassy? She doesn't have that option - but I suppose she could have appealed to the Saudi Embassy in Thailand. How far do you think that would have got her?
What's the point in guessing?

She gave her passport to someone she didn't need to. They didn't give it back when they should have.

That's all we know.. and from saudi law (check their gov website) the Violator (the official) should be punished.
"Aren't you fortunate to be able to appeal to the British Embassy?"

Yes, thank god that i am also.
"How far do you think that would have got her?"

Obviously not as far as randoms acts of social media.
No cultivation was done during the making of this article.

Spath, you're not being rational.
Yet another matter of opinion ;)

Seems those who are not being rational are KSA.

"A Saudi envoy in Bangkok denied any official Saudi involvement in Ms Mohammed al-Qunun's detention."
