Rockrose, //Because they have lived their lives and should stop ruining the future for younger generation// The senior generation are still living their lives. Are you trying to qualify for the stupidest post of the week?
Spath // However, i think 18 is a fine limit. There are 16 year olds that know more than 85 year olds//
And there are many octogenarians that know more than you or any other 16 year old,
It's unfortunate that age is so divisive in this country, it shouldn't be an 'us and them' approach at either ends of the spectrum, both can learn a lot from the other, but frankly Sparkly I'll be damned if I pay the amount of tax I do and be told I'm not an adult and ought not be allowed to vote. I'll have all my money back then that I've somehow been grown up enough to earn.
I think being required to turn out (or register for a postal vote) is important. If you want to turn out and spoil your vote that's a choice too but maybe it will actually get some people to think that if they have to do something anyway then you might as well get involved in the process. I suspect that many no show-ers think "oh there is something good on telly, its raining, and so on and its apathy rather than a deliberate decision.
RR: "Because they have lived their lives and should stop ruining the future for younger generation " - would this be the future they delivered for the young to abuse and squander?
How exactly have the young abused and squandered the world? By and large we've had no time or chance to do either yet... anything going on now is firmly at the door of your generation, so if you don't like it you ought to have made better decisions.
