The reason we live in “strange times” of course is because, while normally this would signal the end of the thing voted down (Brexit), on this occasion the thing voted down is a nebulous concept voted for in a referendum and no one wants to be responsible for stopping it. So we blunder on trying to reconcile the irreconcilable in the name of “democracy”
Not that it matters any more but this whole omni-shambles ought to have been seriously addressed *before* the Referendum was held.
There was such a dismissive attitude by Cameron's government to the entire thing..."Oh, let them have a vote....it'll amount to nothing and then we can carry on as normal".... that it is hardly surprising we find ourselves where we are.
TM finds herself between a rock and a hard-place and I do have a degree of sympathy for her.
I would now like to see her go back to the EU and tell them that she tried it their way and the country (via Parliament) rejected it and now we'll be doing it our own way.
They'll either start to make concessions not on offer before OR dig their heels in.
I certainly believe that we are strong enough as a nation to 'go it alone' and then forge our own deals across the world.

ichkeria, //normally this would signal the end of the thing voted down (Brexit),//
That’s a perfect illustration of what I’m talking about because the negotiations for a ‘deal’ (meaning we keep a foot or more in the door of the EU) and hence yesterday’s vote should never have happened at all. Democracy should have been respected from the outset and in anything resembling an honest society it would have been. There would have been no question of the end of Brexit. Every time I hear Mrs May – or Mr Corbyn or anyone else for that matter – banging on about respecting the will of the people or letting the people down or reneging on the result of the referendum, I want to bang their heads together. Liars all. It’s apparent that dishonesty is now integral to all walks of life – and, quite shamefully, it’s not only accepted, but it’s supported and excused.
