British Gas will be pleased at this.
Waste of time.
They will need to diversify, Danny. They might become British Heat Pumps. :-)
ironic really, the way things are going only new house owners will be able to afford gas ...

I think that the emmisions from air craft should be a priority not gas in new homes!
Fracking hell...what we going to do with all the shale gas?
Can't see it happening, to be honest. "Careful consideration" sounds like double-speak.
they could use the gas we will not be using to generate the extra electricity... I am beginning to see a flaw...
Supply a wind pylon to every home.Problem solved.

Until the RSPB come along Danny. (And me)
new homes
read the script
and anyway it is a recommendation

I mean I recommend you read the article before blaarting but I dont suppose you er will.....(change)

'you cdnt make it up'
no - what about - - - - -more of the same on AB !
look on your energy bills ( wot dey den?)
per therm - leccy is three times the cost ( of gas)
"Could be"

Can't boilers be fitted with filters to remove CO2 from the exhaust ?
How much of a problem can hobs, only on for short periods, really be ?
I reckon they should concentrate first on reducing coal use. Get the main energy sources clean, then worry about the use of gas for cooking.
"heat pumps, which pull in heat from outside air"
When one needs heat, during the 6 month winter, the air is rather cool out there. Wouldn't ground source heat pumps be a better bet ? Where's the government grant for mine then ?
ground source doo dahs
like solar panels
they may never break even ....

PP, yes it is a recommendation but the topsy turvy world we live in only takes some TwitFace green nutter to start a 'campaign' and suddenly we are all stuck with it.

Once Nuclear Fusion power is fully developed it will mean limitless electric power, at a tiny fraction of the cost of our present Nuclear Fission power. It will be so cheap that it will not be metered , just a small 'service charge'. The power companies know this very well and are doing everything to scare people off. They can see the end !!!
On the other side, there is only a limited amount of oil / gas in the world. All estimates are that we passed the point of 'peak flow' several years ago. So the only way for fossil fuel is DOWN from now on !
// You really couldn't make it up. //

I wish people would stop using that stupid phrase.
The war on fossil fuels is nothing new. It has been with us for decades. Cutting CO2 emmissions is in everyones interest.
Great stides have been made in renewable energy in recent years, as evidenced bu the ubiquitous wind turbines and solar panels everywhere.
Oh dear, I've just bought a new gas hob and it's being fitted next week. Having had an electric hob in the past, I much prefer a gas one.
Talbot. There is a HUGE amount of Shale gas. But extracting it is VERY expensive and VERY dirty. Estimates are that Shale Gas will be at least 5x the price of our current gas ! Far too expensive for use to generate electricity.
