Slippery Sloap
101 Answers
Well.. we all know artists aint perfect don't we.. So surely boycotting playing music by one of them because of their actions is a slippery slope. When does it stop? So many criminal rappers and some convicted murders, but there music is OK?
I hate double standards and this is a fat one.
Some music even promotes violence and it's still allowed.

I agree. I have always argued in favour of the concept of seperating the artist from the art. If you start judging artistic output by the behavour of the artist, as you say, where does it stop? Once you have condemned all the abusers, do you turn to the tax frauds, the motorway speeders, the non-charity donors? The best way to avoid such a slippery slope is not to...

The best way to avoid such a slippery slope is not to step on the beginning of it in the first place.

Because, unlike the average rapper, Jackson is a world-wide cultural phenomenon, known and read about by people who wouldn;t recognise a rap track if it smacked them in the face.
The amount of money and influence tied up in the Jackson brand makes this issue the news that it is - and influences the reactions of radio stations with advertising revenue to lose by not toeing the line.

Zacs,
Because they are idiots and are pandering to their percieved audience.
It is utterly pointless not playing an old Michael Jackson song now. The songs are partof our culture (like them or not).
Occassionally you will get old songs that are supposed to not conform to modern standards, and there will be radio bans on 70 year songs such as “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Equally utterly bonkers.
If the song is inoffensive then a radio ban is ludicrous.

ZM, off the complete top of my head, snoopdog.
"While recording Doggystyle in August 1993, Snoop Dogg was arrested in connection with the death of a member of a rival gang who was shot and killed by Snoop's bodyguard; both men were charged with murder as Dogg was driving the vehicle from which the gun was fired"

ZM snoop dogg is not only played on radio stations, but also appears at many radio events.
