The lawyer for Shamima Begum’s family says there are “strong but as yet unconfirmed reports” that her baby son has died.

The 19-year-old and her newborn son, Jarrah, had been living at a Syrian refugee camp after having her British citizenship stripped.

You're on the wrong site PP if you're looking for any compassion.
“a spokesman for the US backed Syrian Democratic forces said the baby was alive and healthy”

Er no: they are the ones saying it’s died. Why anyone would doubt that there was a baby I cannot imagine, and why, if it really was all made up, that story would suddenly be ended, I can’t imagine either.
The death is now confirmed. RIP little one
I suppose most of us on here have held, and certainly seen, a baby held. In the video clip I have seen of another woman holding her baby, the covered bundle she is patting appears to have no more weight on her arms than a pillow.

Why does she look so completely unperturbed by the event of giving birth, when most women find it physically debilitating?

Shamima Begum has shown no remorse for her actions.

She defended the murders in Manchester, she has been involved in the killing of innocent people, whether directly or tacitly, she hates our way of life and she wants to destroy it.

How exactly do people think she would have brought up her child?

Some people need to detach themselves from the 'ahhh' factor, get a grip, and realise this piece of detritus hates us and wants to see us dead...and that is exactly the way her child (if indeed it was a child) would be brought up.
// She defended the murders in Manchester, //

compared the bombing of civilians in Raghouz with the arena bombing - which didnt go down well there

I thought she was gonna turn to the camera and say - hey folks I am still as gormless as I was when I left ....
No one has expressed an ahhh factor. The death of an innocent baby in such awful circumstances is sad.
I cant think of any marooned Brit who has elicited so little sympathy

most of it has been on the lines of - - you stupid gairl, you made your bed now lie in it!
She should be brought back.
At only 19 years of age, we know she is stupid, but that is no excuse to be inhumane.
We bring her back the flood gates will open and they'll all want to come back. When a couple of bombs go off or a truck mows down 40 or 50 people we'll say ,"What was all this fuss about knife crime about.""
"You're on the wrong site PP if you're looking for any compassion."

Whatever the mother has done, the child did not deserve any of this. I can despise what Ms Begum has done but still feel sympathy for a dead baby and a lost teenage mother. It doesn't stop me having compassion for others, but it makes me less of a human if I simply turn my back.
Of course the death of a baby is sad - that goes without saying.

But the death of this child (if indeed there was a child - and there is some doubt) means there's one less jihadist in the world. The mother would, without a single shadow of a doubt, have brought the child up to hate all we hold dear.

I won't shed a tear.
"... there's one less jihadist in the world."

Sadly I suspect the opposite to be true. I wonder how many undecided teenagers are sitting at their laptops at this minute and wondering what this country thinks of them. They see the white men who went to Syria with the intention of killing who have now returned and are happily hosted by TV and radio stations to talk about who they killed, then they compare that with the disgusting comments people make about Islam in general, never mind the naive girl who volunteered to cook, clean and give birth for what she saw as the Islamic cause.

They might even be dismissive of Shamima Begum herself, but they still wonder why she is reviled while the others are feted. They could even be looking at sites just like this, hearing that the religion they follow is a religion of savagery.

I am no apologist for extremists or for people who bite the hand that feeds them, but if I was a peaceful Moslem teenager hearing Day in, day out that I am a terrorist waiting for my moment of glory, I might even start to believe it.
I don't know if I am the only one that feels this, and don't eat me alive, but I felt their was no interaction between her and her child. I never saw her cuddle him, or hold him close or show him affection. He just lay there. There could be many reasons for that of course.
He died of a chest infection I just heard on the news. Apparently we are getting the blame for not allowing her back here.
JF85, // if I was a peaceful Moslem teenager hearing Day in, day out that I am a terrorist waiting for my moment of glory, I might even start to believe it. //

You have no idea what you would be thinking if you were Muslim.
LB, //Apparently we are getting the blame for not allowing her back here. //

What a surprise!
JF - that is an incredibly coherent and well argued post.

Totally wrong, but nonetheless well argued.
Dianne Abbott has been Tweeting about this to tell us where the balme lies
