I wonder how 'ambitious' she actually is?
Do we know how many weeks pregnant this women was when she informed her manager ?
Would have thought her maternity leave would not kick in until May.In most situations expectant Mums work as long as they can to give themselves longer with the baby when he/she is born until they have to return to work.
Her employer seemed to be more concerned about her baby that she was. When will people realise that 'equality' has to be tempered with common sense.

In today's world and the culture of compensation,who can blame employers for decisions taken that actually provide greater protection for their employees against harm?
Well she told them in November she was pregnant Annea and the baby was due in July so about 3 months
I see no reason why she was removed from frontline duties at 12 weeks gestation ,

Annea - but she was still pregnant and still at the same risk.The scenarios I described could have occurred at any given day and had she lost her child it would be a very different situation.

Oh dear. If being temporarily placed on sedentery duties for the safety of herself and the baby has caused her mental trauma ,anxiety etc and affected her mental health then It should be considered by her Chief Constable that she is not fit to hold the office of Constable .She would encounter far more stressful incidents in her career. The police need more active officers on the street not uniform carriers.

I received my new Council Tax bill this week and inside was the bumph including stats,comment from the Police Commissioner which compared the number of PC's,PCSO's with that of five years ago.It made very depressing reading....
Rockrose, I presume that you have a vast knowledge of what is required of a police officer?If not I am sure that Retro will be able to inform you.
A risk-assessment was carried out and the advice was she could continue in her current role which she was happy to do.

What is the point of carrying out a risk-assessment if the outcome is ignored?

The woman was trying to do her job she didn’t want to be a ‘uniform holder’.
As for retro experience - no thank you his attitude on here tells me all I need to know about what sort of policeman he was!!

Amongst other things she claims to have worked in law enforcement. I don't think chasing errant tax defaulters is quite the same as a front line officer. The latter have to be fit not indisposed through pregnancy.
Corby, did the risk assessment take into account that she may have sustained a blow to her stomach in certain situations?
Retro I have worked in many forms of investigation for your information .
Retro, I am in complete agreement with you, we both have experience of the perils of active police duties.

Danny,exactly.No paper exercise can determine what situations/threats an officer might face.
