Not really a surprise, given his own views, and teh lengths some want to go to to prevent the vote happening again.

>in fact there are still options even if the EU refuses an extension.
There may be. i hope so. But I am not confident that anyone can come up with something now which could satisfy a majority in the house.
What does it matter, we're all going to die one day.Trouble is, if this Brexit shenanigans carries on, we'll all die of acute boredom!
I think at the moment the House is proceeding with the idea that March 29th is no longer a significant date. If the EU rejected an extension then the question of whether the House really wanted to reject a No Deal exit or was just making an empty gesture comes to the fore.
Too soon to count chickens (there's an irony for you!). We'll just have to wait and see.
A General Election is looming.
I tell you what: let’s campaign to prorogue parliament. Then the Prime minister could have another go when it came back.
Now THAT would be ironic :-)
Seems reasonable to me, can't be asking the same question multiple times; although it could be argued that circumstances, rather than the question, has changed. Anyway if it rules out the anti-Brexit deal then it's one barrier to no-deal removed. Just needs the MPs to find their courage at last and deliver Brexit as promised.
"There is a danger here though that we may reach an impasse where everything is ruled out but no one can put forward anything which is accepted by the house."

Hardly a danger. That's why an end date of the 29th March has been set. But it requires MPs to act morally and not try to thwart the agreement.
"...so presumably if it were tweaked again a vote could be sanctioned, particularly as the alternatives have now changed"

The rules say the same issue cannot be put again. They do not say it can be put again if the alternatives have altered.

"and there is clearly a change in opinions now from some- eg Ester McVey, maybe DUP...."

And the rules do not say the issue can be put again if some people have (allegedly) changed their minds.

I'm a Leaver (in case anybody was unaware) but I'm completely with Mr Bercow (for whom I hold no affection whatsoever). This country is a laughing stock. Not because the people voted to leave but because our politicians have demonstrated a level of ineptitude that even I thought was beyond them.
regardless of what he does he seems to be an odious person. I don't care about this vote just commenting on how he appears to me.
As a leaver I would be very carefof whatever he does. He has has meetings galouwith remainextremists and they are positioning for a reason.

There are people glad he has ruled another vote out. If, and it’s a big if, it was a case of this deal or no Brexit then not allowing another vote will only bolster remain.

The only thing off the table should be remain because as has been said countless times before, that has been decided.

Be careful what the poison dwarf does. He does it for a reason.
Maybe I’m displaying a level of ignorance(no problem admitting it because I too have become desensitised to the whole shebang) but doesn’t this decision assist in greasing the wheels for a No Deal Brexit?
//...doesn’t this decision assist in greasing the wheels for a No Deal Brexit?//

Or raise the panic level of the Remainer parliament such that Brexit will be removed from the table by force (i.e. withdraw Article 50), or deceit (i.e. "request" and indefinite extension of membership).
Whatever happened to basic honesty?
Got some right clever ***s on here. As some of us were collecting our winnings on Leave, they were having sneaky bets on Remain.
I had to laugh at the Tory MP (David? James?) Gray complaining that he’d now planned to vote for the Deal but now wouldn’t be able to. Which begged the response: well you should have voted for it last week then shouldn’t you!
This odious little man has b??????s to Brexit on a sticker in his wife’s car.He is hoping this will lead to our new national anthem,”Oh Jeremy Corbyn “ then God help us all.

^ he is officially a Tory though- used to be right of centre in the Tories- but there were rumours once that he was considering defecting to Labour.
If he has applied the rles fairly that's fair enough- but I'm not sure in that case why the second vote was allowed and what changes would need to be made here to allow it to go ahead
The second vote was allowed because Bercow wasn't on top of his job.

All Tories are right of centre. In Blair's day some Labour was too.
For a man in a position that is supposed to be neutral this man is a disgrace.
