Not really a surprise, given his own views, and teh lengths some want to go to to prevent the vote happening again.

His own views are neither here nor there. He's merely expressing a principle of the obvious: Parliamentary convention -- ie, the laws of our constitution -- does not allow multiple votes on the exact same question in a single Parliament. So May can't bring back the exact same vote again. This isn't a Remain issue, it's just how the law works in this country.

You may be right jim but I am not convinced- okay, maybe he allowed the second vote on the basis that there had been very minor tweaks , so presumably if it were tweaked again a vote could be sanctioned, particularly as the alternatives have now changed and there is clearly a change in opinions now from some- eg Ester McVey, maybe DUP.
The Tweaks weren't minor at all, at least legally: there were three new texts produced alongside the Withdrawal Agreement, of which at least two had/have equal legal status and changed, to an extent, its nature. This week the proposal is merely to have another go at literally the same agreement but with at most one extra paragraph in the Attorney General's legal opinion, and possibly not even that.
Yeah but what about democracy eh?
Apparently according to some it's 'un-democractic' to have two referendums (because you can't keep voting til you get the result you want) lol, but you can have as many identical votes as you like for May's pathetic deal and that's okay?
Can't have your cake and eat it, it's one or the other isn't it?

There is a danger here though that we may reach an impasse where everything is ruled out but no one can put forward anything which is accepted by the house. Even a vote to ask the EU to be allowed to Remain would probably be rejected. Hopefully someone can find a way through this mess.
It would be ironic though if the effect was to leave with no deal on 20th March because all other options have been ruled out. Would gulliver still be gloating then , I wonder.
It's all very odd this david, I voted Remain but wouldn't want us to go back cap in hand to teh EU so am struggling to see what way forward would be acceptable
