That's alright they can demonstrate all they like, it's their absolute right to, and despite being a Remainer I'll stick up for that right, nothing to do with whether they give us an easy ride or not, they absolutely should be able to, and only five arrested, so not much of a demo really eh? x

No but generally given the strength of feeling and the sheer numbers I think that 5 is quite restrained on the part of the police.

It was the police who weren’t in for an easy ride.
Lucky it was mainly peaceful.
It’s not clear what exactly what they were demonstrating AGAINST. Obviously FOR Brexit, and presumably pleased with the vote as it means No Deal is still a possibility.
It was two rival and it seems entirely separate protests as well: Nigel and his Brexit party, and UKIP and their own folk.

I think given that Brexit is looking increasingly unlikely, you will get hardcore right wingers and militant nationalists hijacking perfectly reasonable demos about that, so I think you could be right Danny, which is a pity because Bexiteers do have the right to be unhappy, I can see that.

What worries me is that that if enough people talk up to the spectre of violent protests then unscrupulous people will simply try to oblige.
The protesters yesterday whatever else you may say about them were almost entirely peaceful: the arrests were by the sound of it drunken hangers on. Protest is good. Whether you agree with it or not.

Errrmm no AOG, if you read my responses correctly you will see that I support Brexiteers right to demonstrate peacefully but I was agreeing with Danny that riots might occur if other fringe groups hijack those- how is that in any way anti-democratic?
