Danny, some would say there is religious justification for wearing it - which is why we get westerners clamouring to defend it. Got to respect culture and religion and all that. However, for those who do have a free choice it is without doubt a political uniform. It's far more in evidence now than it's ever been.

I've actually NEVER seen a woman in a burka... only a Niqad or Hijab. I didn't know a burqa had to have a mesh over the eyes.

Some Muslim babies do wear the hijab. Never seen one in a niqab. If you've never seen a woman wearing a burkha ,come to Burnley, Rochdale, Haslingden and you'll see lots.
It's a strange sight to see a woman in a full burkha holding her little child's hand and the child is wearing all western clothes. T-shirt, trainers, tights etc.
