No, i'm comparing the decisions to let one show run, and one show not. I'm not comparing why the people killed themselves, in the grand scale of things that doesn't matter. If anything, fact two suicides has resulted from Love Island is more of a reason to shut it down, rather than JK, which in the many years it has been on air, has only resulted in one suicide.

Love island first aired in 2015.. Two suicides

JK first aired in 2005, only one suicide.

that indicates every 14 years someone on JK may commit suicide.

Love island indicates every two years someone will commit suicide.
Why stop showing JK when Love Island is more of a danger not only to society and culture on a whole, but also to the actual contestants that go on it?
Take it off with gloves on. Pretend it never happened.
Ken... Love Island is just a bunch of preening male and female wannabees
That's why I've never seen an episode just the ads. but made me laugh... I avoid JK show but have seen a good no. of his shows (Or bits of)
Kyle is a gobby self opinionated bear bater with a low life audience following. He could drive anyone to suicide given enough time. Nasty, rude, cocky ,arrogant little bar steward. Of course he can afford to be like that. He hides behind a team of burly ‘Security’ thugs when he lambasts his subjects.
The show is absolutely awful and Jeremy Kyle is similarly awful....it, and he, sets up people and their behaviour for public ridicule. Many of those people have all sorts of problems anyway and really should not be treated this way. He has made a lot of money from other people misery and through encouraging people to laugh at them. Honestly don't know how people can watch it as it reminds me of those who used to howl at public executions and should have been stopped years ago.
No, I don't think it should be taken off air, but I suspect it will be.
I think the production team has a lot to answer for as they are supposed to filter out the vulnerable.. as you say Retro hiding behind his Security... I'd like him to speak to me like he does his guests passing him in the street.
But surely the people who APPLY to go on Jeremy Kyle know exactly what to expect ??
Yes it should be taken off air because he trumpets away with swagger not allowing anyone to adequately defend themselves that his grossly inaccurate polygraphs are the be all and end all of who is telling the truth when they are in fact deeply flawed and not admissable in most courts because of that fact being recognised.
The two people who killed themselves who had appeared on Love Island were casualties of fame. Sadly some people seem to think they'll like weirdos dogging their every movement and criticising everything they do until it's a reality and the bar is constantly raised, so they are never thin enough, never rich enough, never cool enough to meet their fans expectations. You have to be quite insular and have a very very thick skin to survive serious fame and these people just don't have the back up for that, you can't compare the two shows.
hear that guys?

"with a low life audience following."

Hope no one takes offence lol
"But surely the people who APPLY to go on Jeremy Kyle know exactly what to expect ??"

Oh absolutely, they also know they are going to be subject to public humiliation and ridicule.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
I think a lot of the trash on television should be taken off air.
I can see a scenario however where for example the wife might be a JK fan, be paranoid and give her allegedly straying husband an ultimatum 'Go on the show and take a lie detector or I'll leave you'.
Poor innocent bloke thinks 'Well I've done nothing wrong where is the harm? I'll be exonerated'- problem is he's in the 20% who are not accurate, so he's stuffed. Jezza bellows he's a dirty cheat- (goes of and hypocritically stuffs the Nanny as is his won't)- poor bloke goes home, wife leave him, he can't believe it didn't exonerate him and he kills himself.
Utter tragedy- for gallows knitting entertainment. Take it off the air.
its should be taken of because it's a disgusting concept, using, off the pace people as entertainment. This incident is just the inevitable consequence, it was always bound to happen. I don't understand how this can be classed as "entertainment".
Blimey TTT we agree :) x
the polygraph is flakey at best, easy to pass it easy to fail it depending on the prevailing conditions. It's not used in any sensible situations.
calico, this sort of thing I compare to animal cruelty and react the same.
YOU cannot say whether or not this man lied on the Kyle show unless you were the “other” woman. Nobody else can possibly know for sure. Lie detector tests are not allowed in law courts because they are not reliable.

Get off your high horse and have a bit of compassion for this man.
